Green living is a moral imperative, one that forces a total understanding of exactly how we affect our surroundings. Our environmental impact study on this site therefore had to be hard and uncompromising, ensure best practices in rehabilitation, energy efficiency, environmental awareness, and sustainable employment.

Because only when these elements are in balance can we claim a benign presence.

A privileged view unfolds over the Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve from the upper slopes of the Helshoogte Pass. This is the view from the terraces of the Stellenbosch Mountain Resort, fellow gatekeeper to one of only five such floral kingdoms in South Africa.

Development of the Stellenbosch Mountain Retreat was responsibly and deliberately slow. It helped us gain a deep understanding of human impacts on this environment, a process that’s imbued the project with extraordinary and non-repeatable value translating into exceptional quality of life.
